Take Back The Glitter Shoot : A Jeanette Rowley Model Team Experience

If you’ve been paying attention to social media lately, you’ll know that there’s this viral post going around about this guy who sells “glitter bombs”  The concept being that if you don’t like someone, you can pay him money, he will fill an envelope with glitter and your note and he will send it out to them to “ruin their day”  A fellow photographer recieved one of those a few weeks ago, and it was pretty mean. You can read her account of it <here> (There’s some crude language in her post, so be careful!) If you’d rather not read it, There’s one paragraph that stuck out to me so much that it inspired me and the model team to do something about it.

Remember that feeling? The feeling of wanting to fall asleep in a dark hole and never wake back up? Bless you, if you’ve never been that affected by bullies. However, if you’re reading this and have, thank God you were able to pull through it. Statistically speaking, more people claim their own lives, than die in car accidents. More than half of those people have been victimized at one or more points in their life.

That’s crazy messed up. If you’re being bullied, I encourage you to reach out. To a teacher, your mom, me, (even if I’ve never met you. send me a text. I’ll help you through whatever. 7248157938)

Glitter is the shiny, sparkly, beautiful thing. It shouldn’t be used for hate! So we resolved to #takebacktheglitter and make is something amazing again.

The JRP Model Team got together last Friday and Monday to make a huge mess with a ton of glitter. We had a lot of fun, and almost no one was blinded by glitter to the eyeballs. (although some trauma was experienced by people standing near the backdrop stand while the wind was blowing.) Truly the girls chosen for the model team this year are incredible beautiful souls. I’m so so blessed to have them in my life!

When people came to pick each of the girls up, we asked them if they wanted to step into the photo. This young man was all about it. Not even worried about glitter getting on him. He seemed to have a very “anything for my sister” attitude. Loved that about him! How adorable are they!?Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (39)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (38)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (37)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (36)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (35)

Speaking of people who will do anything for their loved ones, This beautiful lady stayed during the whole shoot, and even held me up on my step ladder when I needed it. She jumped right in to blow some glitter, and is totally anti-bully ;]Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (34)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (32)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (30)

#kelahatesglitter #kelalovesjeanette The lengths these girls will go to for me. This Big and Little did glitter with the best of them. Even though one of them was worried it would seep into her “lack of soul” (She has a beautiful soul. It’s the hair color that gets her!)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (31)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (6)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (28)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (12)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (19)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (27)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (29)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (23)

I just. Can you even? Because I can’t. Alexis killed this shoot. Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (21)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (20)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (18)

This is what happens when Mrs. Park has approximately half a second to pick these hoodlums up before getting back to studying, and her girls try to convince her to blow glitter.  (We love you Jamie!)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (17)Jeanette Rowley Photography Glitter Shoot (16)Moms against bullying.
