I’m going to try really hard to start posting (and taking!) more photos of daily life. Before I ran full force into photography as a business and a ministry I loved taking photos for myself. Since I’m doing it 40/50 hours a week now, I had been trying to be super present with my babies when we’re together. I was over at a family friends house over the weekend and he was showing me all the photos of his childhood. They are some of his most precious possessions. We talked about albums full of family memories, and I was hit with just how important what I do is. I’ve had that realization a few times before for my clients and friends and there are deaths and they have images of their loved ones, or looking back at newborn photos with a mom while photographing a one year session. I realized this weekend that my kids deserve that too. So I’m making a promise to them that I’ll do that for them.
We have these adorable little blueberry trees on the line between our houses, and the girls think it’s the coolest thing. K just posed like this without any prompting! She’s a pro.
I want to really encourage you to get out there and take images of your own family. It doesn’t matter what kind of camera you have, maybe your images are too bright, maybe too dark or a little blurry. Your kids will not care in 20,30, even 50 years when they are showing those images to other people and talking about what a great childhood they had.
