First Monday of 2019

Happy New year! It’s the very first Monday of the year! I don’t know about you, but Monday’s are actually my favorite day of the week. We protect our Sunday/Sabbath rest day for our family fiercely, so usually I feel really rested, and ready to take on the world the next day.

I’m not one for yearly resolutions. In fact, in 2018 I read a book called “The 12 week year” by Brian P. Moran and‎ Michael Lennington. The premise was that most people use that procrastination panic to get a ton of stuff done at the end of the year, but you can hack yourself in order to be super productive all year long. So instead of Setting a goal every year, I set big goals every 12 weeks. It works really well for me and keeps me moving forward daily. The new year is still a fresh slate, and there are some fun things to consider. Josh has started a 90 day reading plan with a few of his friends, working toward reading the entire bible in 90 days. I have another friend who is doing a 365 project, where she creates an image of her daily life every day for the entire year. Practicing discipline like that seemed attractive to me, but what is a good fit? I personally like to spend a bit more time per verse in my devotions. That may change in the future, but right now it’s more important for me to sit and rest in God’s presence than it is for me to consume a lot of scripture. I absolutely can not commit to taking a photo every day. That’s madness and if I messed up once I would shame myself for an entire year! ( Same story with committing to an every day workout routine. haha!)

So what I’ve decided to do is blog every Monday, without excuses.

I have a ton of planned content for our photography blog, but I get so caught up in everything being perfect, that sometimes is doesn’t get done. I’d like to be better about that this year, but what I know I can force myself to do is to just blog. So Every Monday, regardless of if I have something to say, or if there are pretty photos, I’ll just blog. JUST DO IT. MAKE MY DREAMS COME TRUE.

I hope you’ll come along for the ride!

Please enjoy this photo of me from Ryan a Amanda’s wedding. I’m not sure what I was doing, but I’m sure I was having fun doing it.
