Monday Minute : Last Monday of the DECADE.

Me shooting at one of our favorite venues, Tiffany’s Banquet Hall.

You’re not supposed to start a blog post talking about how long it’s been since you blogged before. Supposedly, no one notices that when scrolling through your blog posts. I think it’s probably OK for me to mention that it’s been a long time since I jumped in for a Monday minute, because at the beginning of 2019 I committed to blogging every Monday of the year.
I checked, the last time I blogged on a Monday was in March.

So, here I am, blogging on the last Monday of the year. I could make a lot of excuses. The most true being that it is HARD to find time to do ALL THE THINGS when you have four girls to care for, plus three business’s and an entire property to renovate. A lot of things had to take a back seat this year while Josh and I focused on what was the most important. We chose to make sure we had solid relationships with God, make sure that our girls were well cared for and that our marriage was strong. After that we focused on creating the weddings that we had promised to our couples. Almost everything else fell to the wayside. I’m looking back on our photography weddings from the year and smiling at the photos remembering how much fun it is to be a wedding photographer. I’m also wondering if I should try to blog those, and adding orders and design work to my now overflowing to-do list.

I want to blog more often, and just share stories of our life, and other peoples stories as I see them. I’m just confused as to how to do that.
Should I keep the photography business and venue business separate? Then I need to create content for both of those, when it’s still just Josh and I behind the scenes. Would starting a new blog just about “The Rowley’s” be wise? Then we could blog photography weddings here, and venue weddings on the Sparrow Hill Blog. I feel like I’d never keep up with it, and adding a third blog into the mix doesn’t seem like it would be successful. I’ve been blogging here for years, so I don’t want to leave this platform. I think I’d like to let our venue clients see more of the real us, so I’d like these blogs to go there too. Let me know if you have an opinion.

Resolutions and such.

The new year is always a great time for changes and resolutions. I’m a firm believer that if you want a change, you shouldn’t wait for Monday, or the new year, but I love the idea of sharing and being accountable for your goals, so here are some of mine!

  1. Systematize like never before. We’ve made the choice to not push off site photography bookings in 2020. This is a lot because we want to get an entire year under our belt before we bring in staff and create positions that would allow us to be away at a wedding somewhere else. This year we’re going to focus on creating great systems in all our businesses so that we can create freedom in our personal lives.
  2. Push forward in the secret behind the scenes project riposo. Make some good headway with that including scheduling at least one event, and start fundraising.
  3. Create and love on our core team at Sparrow Hill, and create a great community for our Sparrow Hill Couples. It’s important to us to remember that the people that are around us are so valuable. We want to serve those people well and be great leaders.

Thank you all so much for allowing me into your corner of the internet this Monday morning! See you next year!
